Ja Rule hasn’t been in the main spotlight in a while. Many people assumed he was done, but actually he has been planning bigger things. He wants to cement himself into the ranks of the stupidly wealthy. Following the success of Dre’s new movie, Ja Rule has decided to make a drama series about his record label, Murder Inc. Paramount is already providing the funding for the series although they have yet to pick a network to air the show on. Ja is hoping to make a deal with Showtime or HBO in order to make the series more “raw and uncut.”

White Rapper Takes Risk (with a Hard “R”)

In the hip-hop industry, artists have to market themselves carefully. Basically, they must build a brand around themselves. Young Money’s newly signed artist decided to break into the game with a bang. We have seen a lot of careful branding from Young Money over the years. They are responsible for the careers of Tyga, Drake, and Nicki Minaj.

The newest addition to their roster is Caskey. He is an interesting rapper with decent lyrics and a unique voice.

In one of his videos, he drops the N-bomb… He is a white rapper. The point of the song is that words are meaningless and not powerful. However, I feel that movie ratings, bleeped words on tv, and the general public feels otherwise.

The effects of this are honestly very interesting. What do you think?

The video has a million and a half views. Do you think that this helped or hurt his image?

Next Big Thing?—Bam!

ohana-bamOne of my favorite things about social media is that you can track a musician’s career from the very beginning. I have begun to pick up patterns in the components of a successful rapper. I believe I have found the next one.

Ohana Bam is a new rapper to just peak his head into the industry. He is very interesting both in appearance and sound. furthermore, his ability to both sing and rap will help his career as well. We have all seen that with Drake. He’s unique enough to build a brand around and not to mention talented (for a change).  I personally am excited to see what comes of this guy’s career.

Here is a song off his upcoming album, ‘Tree Up’ – Available October 23.

T.I. Gives His Opinion

The 2015 Triumph Awards has many famous award presenters. T.I. was among them. He used his speaking time to share his view on social media activism. He believes it is a waste of time. He stated that it is more narcissistic than productive. “Chained by a man-made device small enough to fit into the palm of our hand”

Do you believe he is correct or do you feel that social media activism is a useful tool in social change?
