Cyhi the Prynce Album Update & New Track

Cyhi’s long-awaited debut project, No Dope on Sundays, finally has a release date (November 17th).

In a recent interview with Sway in the Morning, Cyhi had the following to say about the album, commenting on the idea that he’s just telling the week and life of an average inner city kid.

“My album No Dope On Sundays so there’s only 2-3 songs on my album that’s Sunday. All the rest of them is dope boy shit,” he said. “I want to show them [kids] how to overcome different things. It’s talking about single parent mothers, abortions, cancer, shootouts, fist fights, my partner going to jail, people getting killed. I’m kinda just telling the week of the average inner city kid or young man that’s coming up in America. Showing them I went through the same thing they went through and overcame these things to a higher spiritual being,” he said before referring to himself as the street gospel.

In college, I interned for Cyhi the Prynce. I can say from experience, he’s a really nice guy and I hope this album gives him the recognition he deserves.

This Month in Hip-Hop

November is a time to give thanks. This year, we have a lot to be thankful for. This November is especially exciting because of the new music being released.

We already know T-Pain’s Oblivion will arrive on the 17th. Additionally, there are rumors circulating that Eminem’s upcoming project is surprising us the same day. My suspicions are that Cyhi’s album, No Dope On Sunday, will also arrive some time this month.

If we get at even two of those three, I’ll be ecstatic.

What are you most excited for?

Dreamville’s Lute Readies Debut Album

The North Carolina emcee signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records on December 8, 2015. Lute’s debut project, West1996 pt. 2, has received several push backs but it’s expected to be released on September 29, 2017. It’s titled as a followup to his first mixtape, West1996. I’m really excited for this album. I’ve only heard a hand full of songs from Lute but they were awesome.

Check out the first single from the upcoming album “Juggin'” and let me know what you think.
